We destroy the beauty of the countryside because the un-appropriated splendors of nature have no economic value. We are capable of shutting off the sun and the stars because they do not pay a dividend. — John Maynard Keynes
A couple of years ago I watched an educational TV series on “The Origins of Life”. But that was not the real subject. The real subject was he state of the academic field of studying the origins of life. Many theories have been expounded and much useful was recounted about the effect of personalities on the course of scientific thought. There are a bunch of folks out there doing interesting experiments and vigorously defending their theories, but there's just not enough data.
